Adventures in South Korea

We made it to South Korea! Which means we made it through our 13 hour flight! It actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Looking back on it now, it seemed really short. I didn't sleep very well but I did eat some good food (unexpected) and watched some movies.

At the end of our flight. Grandma and I are happy it's over.

Our route to South Korea

And if you look closely you can see how cold it is in South Korea

17 DEGREES. This was so unexpected.

We arrived in South Korea and found the place where our city tour was scheduled. It didn't start for another 2 hours so we walked around the airport for awhile. I failed to pack anything warm so I was walking around in capri yoga pants and chacos, looking like a total tourist since everyone else was bundled up and prepared for this weather. I had packed some socks so I put those on because it was just so dang cold (which made me look even more American). I mean, who knew it got this cold in South Korea?! Not us.

So now it was tour time. We travelled about an hour to a beautiful palace. We learned about the history and we were able to look inside where the king sat. It was very cool.

SOOO beautiful!

Guys. It was so cold. I know I keep saying that but we were so unprepared and really shocked when we arrived. We're wearing these huge jackets and we were still cold. Brrrrrr.

Also, snow:

We spent close to an hour there then went to a shopping mall, a 9 story shopping mall. It was so insane. Every floor was filled with things. One floor for shoes, one for women's clothing, one for men's, one for children's clothes, one for accessories. Then at the very top was the food court. It was buffet style so I got a little bit of everything. It was so good!

We had about 45 minutes of free time after lunch so we roamed the streets a little. We were in downtown Korea and it really reminded me of New York. The buildings were so close together and there was just a lot going on. Then we headed back to the airport to wait another 4 hours for our next flight. The Inceon Airport is very cool though. They have so many things to see and put on music shows and dances. So we were able to watch some of those. This is a picture of some of the women playing music.

It's now 5:00 Korean time (dec. 27th) as I'm writing this and we're starting to feel very very sleepy. (Probably because it's about 2 am in Wichita). We are more than ready to be in our hotel in Cambodia, fast asleep in our beds. Too bad that won't happen for another 7 ish hours.. We are very thankful for our day in South Korea though. We had so much fun and we were able to see more than I thought we would. We're starting to become experts at security since we've had to go through the it about 10 times. We're still not sure if we'll have wifi at the hotel but fingers crossed we do so I can keep y'all updated!

Ps, here's a bonus picture to show you how touristy I was today.
